Crescent Lake Neighborhood Plan
Cresent Lake is one of 120 neighborhoods within the City of St. Petersburg. Developed in the 1920s, 40s, and 50s, the neighborhood has reached a critical point of maturation: original buildings are falling into disrepair; infrastructure is beginning to deteriorate; and although the neighborhood is a stable middle-class enclave, residents are worried about their future.
The Crescent Lake Neighborhood Association hired the Florida Center to assist in preparing a neighborhood masterplan to be submitted to the City of St. Petersburg for inclusion in the City's General Plan. This masterplan presents a range of desirable growth scenarios including specific recommendations for the centerpiece of the neighborhood: the 56-acre park. Additional recommendations describe streetscape improvements, new uses for vacant parcels, and designs for the interface between the neighborhood and adjacent commercial strips.
